indici becomes part of Lanas’ long-term investment plan to support healthcare technology growth across New Zealand.
Global healthcare technology company Lanas today announced plans to invest NZ$150 million in New Zealand healthcare technology over the next two years, deepening its commitment to the country’s digital health future. As part of the investment, Lanas has entered into an agreement to acquire primary care platform, indici.
The plan reflects Lanas’ long-term commitment to the region and will focus on investing in the products, technologies and capabilities that support healthcare professionals every day. This includes developing and improving products, organic AI-enabled capabilities, infrastructure, interoperability and further opportunities to invest in the sector.
Since launching in 2017, indici is used by more than 250 healthcare organisations across New Zealand, supporting over 2 million patient records. Following completion of the transaction, indici will continue to operate with its existing customer focus and team, with day-to-day service and support continuing as usual, while benefiting from the investment, infrastructure and opportunities available as part of the wider Lanas company. Dr Ahmad Javad, founder of indici, will continue to provide strategic advice on product direction with the Lanas team.
To date, other local investments include HealthLink, which delivers lab results and clinical messages nationwide; Toniq, a pharmacy software provider; and KonnectNET, which digitises insurance medical requests between insurers and GPs. The addition of indici expands that reach into general practice.
The investment comes at a pivotal time for New Zealand’s health system. Health New Zealand is building a national Shared Digital Health Record, moving prescribing fully online through the NZ ePrescription Service and strengthening cybersecurity across primary care, backed by more than $450 million in digital health funding in Budget 2026. At the same time, general practices facing sustained workforce pressure need technology that reduces administration and gives clinicians more time with patients. Lanas intends to work with Health New Zealand, primary health organisations and the wider sector to support those priorities.
Howard Beggs, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Lanas, said:
“We have been supporting customers across New Zealand for many years, and we continue to see opportunity for technology to play an even greater role in the future of its healthcare system.
New Zealand has a strong track record of embracing digital healthcare and a healthcare sector that is willing to innovate, collaborate and lead. That’s one of the reasons we’re so excited about deepening our investment here for the long term – starting with the indici transaction.
indici has built one of New Zealand’s leading primary care platforms, with a strong team, deep expertise and a track record of delivering for customers. We’ve long admired what Dr Javad and the team have built and we’re delighted to welcome them to Lanas.
Together with HealthLink, Toniq and KonnectNET, indici further strengthens our presence across New Zealand and broadens the reach of our technology and innovation across the region. It’s an important next step in delivering on our long-term plans for the New Zealand market.”
Dr Ahmad Javad of indici said:
“indici has always been focused on helping healthcare professionals deliver better patient care through modern, cloud-based technology.
Joining Lanas gives the indici product access to additional investment, expertise and scale while allowing the team to remain focused on our customers.
I am excited about what this means for the future of the platform and for New Zealand’s healthcare ecosystem.”
Backed by TA Associates (“TA”), a leading global private equity firm, Lanas is a healthcare technology company operating across the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. The transaction will close following the standard regulatory process in NZ.
